If you receive an “In Process” message, your application has been received and is under review. If your status says your passport has been mailed, but you have not received it after ten business days, you need to contact the National Passport Information Center to fill out a form stating you haven't received it.
It may take up to 2 weeks from the day you apply until your application status is "In Process" at one of our passport agencies and center.

After an application is mailed by the applicant or the Acceptance Facility, it arrives at a data entry and payment processing facility. 1. Once printed, the new passport is mailed to the applicant. Citizenship evidence documents are returned in a separate mailing.

What applications are being processed? When an application is being processed this means that a case worker is checking whether the applicant meets the requirements for the permit applied for.
Answer: You need to call 1-877-487-2778 to possibly pay the 1 to 2 days delivery fee. Please note, however, that expedited service takes 5 to 7 weeks excluding the time it takes for the application to arrive at the processing center and for the passport to arrive at your door.
Best answer. If you login into your eCitizen portal account and the status of your passport application is reading as “receiving”, then it means it is ready for collection.

Best way to apply for your passport

Go to Application Status section of the State Department website. Click on the Online Passport Status System link to check your application status. Enter your last name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your Social Security Number. Type in the code shown in the given space and click on 'Submit.

Staffing shortages and mailing delays caused by the pandemic caused the extended wait times. It is important to note that the current estimate of eight to 11 weeks posted on the State Department website is only the time for processing applications and doesn't include shipping times.
Answer: As an American citizen, you are now required to leave and return to the United States with a valid U.S. passport. Refund has been processed means that they have approved and are ready to send you your refund. Your return being processed mean that your tax return is being processed. Your status should change from being processed to accepted and then a date given for your refund. Keep checking each day for that.

Applicants of „On-Hold‟ cases should complete the submission procedure within 365 days from the date of initial application submission date. Later, the applications will be considered as “CLOSED” and fees will be forfeited.
