If your passport doesn't arrive in time
Speak to your travel provider(s) to see if there's anything they can do. They might not be able to provide a refund, but you might be able to change the dates of your trip or offer credit vouchers to rebook.
Staffing shortages and mailing delays caused by the pandemic caused the extended wait times. It is important to note that the current estimate of eight to 11 weeks posted on the State Department website is only the time for processing applications and doesn't include shipping times.
Answer: As an American citizen, you are now required to leave and return to the United States with a valid U.S. passport. You cannot travel while your U.S. passport application is still in pending or in process. The only way you can get a passport issued sooner is by applying in person at a regional agency.
Expedite a Renewal
Fill out your DS-82 application and collect your documents. Be sure to include the $60 expedite fee in addition to the normal application fee. See Passport Fees for more information. Clearly mark "EXPEDITE" on the outside of the envelope.

Can I leave the UK while waiting for my UK Citizenship application to be processed? Yes, once you have applied for British Citizenship, you can travel outside the UK while your application is being considered.

While no penalty is given for passports claimed at a later date, the public is encouraged to claim their passport within 30 days from its scheduled release.
Applicants just need to log on to https://tracker.passport.gov.ph or go back to the site where they applied their passport at https://www.passport.gov.ph and then click “Track Your Passport.” It will now be called “Unified Passport Tracking System.”
After having tracked online whether your passport is ready for collection, you can collect your passport in person at the end of the visa application process.
The vast majority of all passport applications are being dealt with well within 10 weeks. However, a passport can only be issued once all the checks have been completed satisfactorily and will take longer if applications are submitted with missing or incomplete information.
You will also be notified once the passport is sent to you through mail. Generally, it would arrive sooner but it is estimated to take up to six weeks for the arrival of passport through mail. This applies for routine passport application. For normal expedited processing, it can take up to three weeks.

1 day Premium service
You can get your passport the same day if you provide a completed application form, two photos and supporting documents. Your passport is usually ready to collect four hours after your appointment. It costs £177 to renew a standard adult 32-page passport.
The earliest you can get an appointment is 2 days from when you apply. You'll get your new passport at your appointment. Appointments can last up to 30 minutes. Do not book an appointment if you're self-isolating or you or someone you live with has coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms.
We can only accept a passport that is valid and within its expiry date. This would be the same for any Identification documents. All would need to be within their expiry dates.
Your old passport will be couriered to you and your new one will arrive in a separate courier. This is to mitigate the risk of one of the documents going missing. It should be noted that even though you will receive your old passport back, you will not be able to use it again as an official travel document.
