Directorate of Military Intelligence (Ireland)
An Garda Síochána (Irish pronunciation: [ənˠ ˈɡaːɾˠd̪ˠə ˈʃiːxaːn̪ˠə] ( listen); meaning "the Guardian(s) of the Peace"), more commonly referred to as the Gardaí (pronounced [ˈɡaːɾˠd̪ˠiː]; "Guardians") or "the Guards", is the national police service of Ireland.
The Secret Intelligence Service, often known as MI6, collects Britain's foreign intelligence. It provides the government with a global covert capability to promote and defend the national security and economic well-being of the country.
MI5 - Domestic intelligence, MI6 - foreign intelligence. Interestingly, that makes James Bond a member of MI6.
Agents are at the heart of what MI6 does. Usually foreign nationals, they voluntarily work with us to provide secret intelligence that helps to keep the UK - and often the rest of the world – safe and secure. One of our intelligence officers' major roles is identifying, recruiting, and running these agents.
SCO19 Specialist Firearms Command
(formerly designated as CO19, before that SO19) London's 'SWAT' unit. The Met's specialist firearms unit are highly trained armed police organized into CTSFO, TST and ARV units.
The Secret Intelligence Service (SIS or MI6) is the British equivalent of the American CIA.
Section 1 of the Official Secrets Act 1989 prohibits our current and former staff from making unauthorised disclosures of information concerning security or intelligence that they acquired while working for MI5. We can only pass on information as is necessary for purposes of protecting national security.

It is a regular partner in INTERPOL-led global police operations in these areas.

According to An Garda Síochána (the Irish police force, or Garda), the nation maintains a force of 15,355 sworn and trainee police officers. Gardaí are routinely unarmed, with only 20-25 per cent qualified to deploy a firearm.
Internally, J2 works with Ireland's national police counterterrorism and counter-espionage unit known as the Garda Síochána ('Guardian of the Peace') Special Detective Unit. Externally, J2 liaises with foreign intelligence agencies like the CIA, as well as government and non-governmental agencies.
Today, MI5 has lowered the threat level to Northern Ireland from Northern Ireland Related Terrorism (NIRT) from 'SEVERE' to 'SUBSTANTIAL'.
MI7 was a branch of the British War Office's Directorate of Military Intelligence with responsibilities for press liaison and propaganda. The branch was originally established in the First World War and disbanded after the signing of the Armistice.
During the first world war British Intelligence created the Military Intelligence Section 7 (or MI7 for short) that was responsible for collecting data from foreign sources, translating it, and transmitting it back to the allied leadership.
MI8 was the signals intelligence department of the War Office that ran a worldwide Y-stations network. Additionally, for an 18-month period, from late 1939 to mid 1941, it also ran the Radio Security Service, under the designation of MI8c, but this was quickly handed over to MI6.
Along with the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency), the APF, and the United States army, the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team is one of the most elite in the world.
A nickname for a British policeman is a bobby, after Sir Robert (Bobby) Peel, who founded Britain's Metropolitan Police Force in 1829, provoking complaints about the infringement of civil liberties. The first patrolmen wore a blue uniform (to distinguish them from the military who wore red) with a top hat.
Specialist Rifle Officers are experienced AFOs who have been trained to use sniper/marksman rifles. They deploy rifle teams in support of SCO19 pre-planned operations, typically setting up overwatch at vantage points overlooking an incident. Rifle team weapons include scoped H&K G3K semi-automatic rifles.
