Highest Post of IAS and IPS officers
IPS – The highest post of the Indian Police Service is a CBI Director. While IAS officers get to work under different organizations of government the work of IPS officers is more or less under policing or intelligence departments.

Judges have Judicial powers and IAS have executive powers. But a Judge may summon an executive officer such as IAS/IPS in the court, punish him, order him to do/not to do certain things. Reverse is not possible as IAS/IPS can't exercise any power on Judges.

The first reason is that the DGP of the state is the more powerful police officer of the state, but he has to inform the Home Secretary who can be an IAS officer. Another reason is that all heads of central police, such as CBI, BSF, CRPF, report to IAS secretaries, who are often junior to IAS.
The IAS is the most preferred career in india . No other career or job can offer you the same power perks and status and job satisfaction as the IAS including the tremendous opportunity offered to contribute positively to the society.
